LISTENING PRACTICE

Make a change you can actually judge.

The point of a suggestion is to give you something worth listening to. A clear comparison helps you decide whether it improved the song or just made it different.

01

Repeat the same passage

Pick a passage where the problem is easy to hear and use it for both versions. Keep your listening volume steady. Comparing different parts of the song makes it harder to separate the adjustment from the arrangement.

02

Ask what improved—and what changed elsewhere

If the vocal is easier to follow, check whether the guitar still has enough body. If the low end feels tighter, check whether the bass still carries the part. Use the prototype’s listening checks and tradeoffs as prompts.

03

Change one thing at a time

Audition a focused move, then compare it with the original. You do not need to accept every suggestion. The prototype supports editable settings, original/processed comparison, and an undo history for suggested changes.

04

Write down the reason

A note such as ‘small low-mid cut, vocal easier to follow in the chorus’ is more reusable than a preset name alone. Save profiles as starting points and check them again against each new recording.
